After the celebration of the warm, loving Thanksgiving, here comes the most amazing Charismas season. Looking back on the almost past 2016, we notice that for every memorable moment, we've had our families and friends around with us, who are ready to share our joys and sorrows, and who really deserve our love and gratitude. This year, to give you and your family a most memorable experience, Shanghai's high-end serviced apartment brand Stanford Residences has invited Michelin-starred pastry chef Piet Vandeputte to prepare a special Thanksgiving for you. Coming from Belgium--the world famous chocolate kingdom--Piet is very good at dessert making. This time, he has cooked four exquisite western-style desserts to honor the warmth and gratefulness in life. The activity has been held at Stanford Residences Xu Hui, the second project of the Stanford Residences brand to be launched officially in 2017.
Piet Vandeputte has worked as pastry chef in many three-star Michelin restaurants in Europe, among which is Hof van Cleve-Kruishoutem from Belgium, a winner at The World's 50 Best Restaurants. For his outstanding performance, Piet was once awarded “Best Young Chef Prosper Montagne” medal by Prosper Montagne, a most famous food club. Credited as "Da Vinci" in the dessert making, Piet has cooked his desserts with both appearance and taste. To Piet, desserts are made to add sweetness to life, so the appearance and taste are of equal importance.
French black-cherry chocolate
Chocolate is undoubtedly the most artistic food that can bring out your imagination to the utmost, it's an ingredient needed in almost all the dessert making. The recipe for making French black-cherry chocolate is: melt the chocolate, let it cool down, take it out from the mould, and cut it into small pieces or thin slices. Brush some caramel and cream over the top of the chocolate. Black cherry, cream and chocolate chips can be added according to personal taste. This kind of dessert is delicious in taste and beautiful in shape, and it's very popular among the kids.
Coconut flavored Pavlova
Pavlova is a meringue-based dessert named after the beautiful Russian ballet dancer Anne Pavlova.
Amazing yummy though, it has a very simple recipe, similar with that of other egg white desserts. But there is a big difference: for Pavlova, there's the addition of lemon juice in it. Pavlova can be made into cakes, cookies and even candies, with various different appearances. Served with fruit or jams, it will be given a sweet and sour flavor; and with the coconut flavored soft cream, golden crispy crust and cotton candy like fillings, Pavlova is so tender that it melts in your mouth. A really amazing dessert that is tuned in to the tastes of young and old alike.
Frozen cream-cheese cake with caramelised gingerbread crumble
The use of cream cheese gives the frozen cream-cheese cake a delicate texture and a mild taste. For those who don't like cheese, they will find cream cheese in this dessert acceptable. This kind of dessert has a very simple recipe and can be done without an oven, which is indeed ideally situated for novice cooks. There's a saying that the cream-cheese cake suggests sweet love, so this easily cooked yet wonderful dessert is ideal for the romantic young couples.
Caramelized apple and almond dessert
Wrap the scented cinnamon in the diced caramelized apple and put the crispy almonds over the top. There is a slight bitter in the caramel. When the apple is caramelized, the juice will come out slowly from the apple, which will give the flesh inside a touch of translucent amber and a unique flavor. This is a dessert suitable for the whole family.
Mr. Leo Lee, Associate Director of K. Wah (China) Investment Limited that hosted this activity, explained:"Kitchen plays an important role in the family life; it represents love and affection of the cook. And for family members, it is a place where happiness and sweet memories come from. Out of this consideration, the kitchens at Stanford Residences Jing An and Stanford Residences Xu Hui have all adopted open Kiosk design, in addition to the Teka brand appliances imported from Germany. So, the kitchens at Stanford Residences are a lovely place and of great attraction. They offer an inviting space for home chefs to cook up a storm.
